We’re running a four-part series to start your business off strong in 2022. Week One, we challenged you to Change Your Website’s Landing Page. Week Two, we discussed Running Special Promotions.

Week Three: Get Active on Social Media

If it feels like the whole world’s on social media, that’s because over 3.6 billion people use it daily! Social media does more than just reach new customers. It can help land sales, increase brand recognition and increase brand loyalty. Social media marketing is simply the use of social media platforms and websites to promote your business. 1 out of every 3 social media users say that one of the main reasons they use a particular social media platform is to follow a brand or to find products.

Social media users share everything from seasonal parties and recipes to invites for gatherings and checking up on neighbors and ex’s. Why wouldn’t you want your business to be present when most users admit to using social media for over 2 hours a day! Social commerce is taking over customer purchase behaviors, with a predicted 30% increase in social commerce sales and a 30% increase in social referrals to ecommerce sites. So, what does this have to do with your business?

Social media marketing is a must. You need to meet your audience where they are, and they are on social media!. Instagram is one of the largest players in social commerce, with the relatively recent addition of Instagram Shop and Instagram “Drops.” These features allow users to view, save or purchase products that they are interested in on your Instagram page. This interface can also redirect users to your website for ecommerce purchases or email list building.

Instagram isn’t the only successful social media platform. Twitter, Facebook and the newly emerged TikTok are large players in social media marketing as well. Each platform has different audiences and different social cultures. In order to find the platform that is best for your brand, take a look at your product, service and audience. If you sell retail products online, Instagram is a no brainer. Run some Instagram Story ads and open up your Instagram Shop page. If you’re marketing a contracting service, Facebook is a great way to expand your audience and get leads through Facebook Ads and posting organic content. If you want to target Gen Z and Millennials, TikTok may be your best bet. Hop on a trend and promote it through TikTok ads manager.

Meet your audience where you know they’ll be. Do some research on who is purchasing your product or service and where that demographic often spends their time. Additionally research their behavior on social media platforms, and create a solid social media strategy.
